The de Young will be the first U.S. museum to host “Keith Haring: The Political Line,” which features more than 130 works of art from the iconic, pop-art master, including sculptures, large scale paintings and subway drawings accompanied by entries from Haring’s diaries. The exhibition will also feature pieces that have not been showcased since the artist’s death in 1990. Haring’s work has long been a part of San Francisco’s visual culture; during his lifetime, the artist created a variety of murals, paintings and sculptures for various venues in the city.
